Methodology

Includes tissue processing, hematoxylin-and-eosin stain, and any additional stains necessary for interpretation.
Note:  If a frozen section is requested, schedule 24 hours in advance with the pathologists.

Specimen Requirements

Tissue specimens from different sites should be placed in separate containers with 10% neutral-buffered formalin supplied at a ratio of 1 volume of tissue to 15 volumes of formalin.

Note:  1. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of collection, specimen source, and name of referring physician.
2. Please complete a “Surgical Pathology/Cytology Request Form,” including the patient’s clinical history and diagnosis, and specimen source and forward it with the specimen.

3. Multiple specimens excised from the same procedure may be listed on the same requisition.

4. Please attach patient or responsible party's insurance information to requisition.

Reference Values

An interpretive report will be provided.
