Methodology

Staff pathologists will provide consultative diagnoses on slides/blocks prepared elsewhere.

Specimen Requirements

Hematoxylin-and-eosin slides are usually sufficient. If applicable, tissue blocks or special stain slides may also be sent. Send slides/blocks in container supplied.
Note:  1. Include a copy of the original tissue report.
2. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of collection, specimen source, and name of referring physician.

3. Please complete a “Surgical Pathology/Cytology Request Form,” including the patient’s clinical history, diagnosis, and specimen source and forward it with the specimen.

4. Attach patient’s or responsible party’s insurance information to requisition.

Reference Values

An interpretive report will be provided. Slides and blocks will be returned.
