Methodology

Microscopy
Useful for detection of intestinal parasites in freshly collected liquid specimens.

St. Clair Hospital Laboratory

Specimen must arrive within 30 minutes of collection.

Acceptable Specimens:

Colonic, duodenal, and jejunal aspirates or liquid stool

1. Submit specimen in a screw-capped, sterile container.

2. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
Note: Specimen source is required on request form for processing.

Negative (no parasites seen)
If positive, parasite will be identified.
