1 plasma gel tube (1 mL of lithium heparin plasma). Centrifuge blood as soon as possible, or send unspun blood to laboratory within 4 hours of draw.

18-60 years old: 6-20 mg/dL

60-90 years old: 8-23 mg/dL

Critical value (automatic call-back): >100 mg/dL
