Specimen Requirements

Plasma and urine are required for this test. The blood specimen should be drawn during the 24-hour period of urine collection.

 

Plasma
1 plasma gel tube (1 mL of lithium heparin plasma). Centrifuge blood as soon as possible, or send unspun blood to laboratory within 4 hours of draw.

Note:  Label specimen appropriately (plasma).

 

Urine
Submit an entire 24-hour urine collection in a urine container supplied. No preservative. Refrigerate specimen during collection and send specimen refrigerated.
Note:  1. Starting and ending times of collection are required on request form for processing.
2. Follow instructions in “Urine Collection” in “Special Instructions.”

3. Label specimen appropriately (urine).

Reference Values

Males:  97-137 mL/min
Females:  88-128 mL/min
