Useful for detecting yeast and clue cells (a marker for bacterial vaginosis).

St. Clair Hospital Laboratory

Specimen must arrive within 30 minutes of collection.

1. Collect vaginal or cervical specimen using a swab.

2. Place swab in tube with 1 mL of sterile non-bacteriostatic saline.

3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature only.
Note: Specimen source is required on request form for processing.

Negative (no budding yeast or cells indicative of clue cells seen)
