Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay (ELCIA)Useful for patients who are not, or not suspected to be, taking exogenous glucocorticoids. This test is recommended for routine testing.

1 plasma gel tube (1 mL of lithium heparin plasma). Centrifuge blood as soon as possible and send specimen refrigerated, or send unspun blood to laboratory within 4 hours of draw.Note: Specimen drawn at 4 p.m. is preferred.
