Specimen Requirements

1. Collect urethral or vaginal specimen on a sterile cotton swab and inoculate directly onto a Modified Thayer Martin culture plate supplied.
2.  Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature only.
Note:  1. Genital specimens collected on aerobic bacterial transport swabs may also be sent, but the direct specimen, innoculated onto a modified Thayer Martin culture plate is preferred.
2. Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
