Specimen Requirements

1 plain, red-top tube (3ml of serum).  Centrifuge blood as soon as possible and send specimen refrigerated, or send unspun blood to laboratory within 4 hours of draw.

Reference Values

Negative: Negative for HIV-1 p24 Antigen

                  Negative for HIV 1/2 Antibodies

 

If positive, specimen will be sent to Mayo Reference Laboratories for antibody confirmation and differentiation.
