Specimen Requirements

 3 Blue tops

Drawn at Hospital:

1. Prechill blue tubes prior to collection on wet ice
2. Immediately upon collection, place tubes back on wet ice
3. Centrifuge within 1 hour of collection
4. Pour plasma into 3 specimen transport tubes
5. Freeze immediately

Drawn at Offsite location:

1. Prechill blue tubes prior to collection on wet ice
2. Immediately upon collection, place tubes back on wet ice
3. Centrifuge within 1 hour of collection
4. Pour plasma into 3 specimen transport tubes
5. Place specimen transport tubes on wet ice for transport to the hospital
6. Upon arrival in the main lab, freeze immediately
7. Specimen must reach the lab and be frozen within 4 hours of collection
