Specimen Requirements

1. Using a lead pencil, label frosted end of a clean, glass slide(s) with patient’s name.

2. Swab nasal mucous (1 swab for each nostril).

3. Smear mucous on slide(s). Allow to air dry.

4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
Note:  Label slides appropriately (right and left nostril).  If needed, slides can be obtained from the laboratory.
