Glutamate Dehydrogenase/Kinetic
Ammonia is an end-product of metabolism found in small amounts in blood. Elevated levels are found in patients with impaired liver function.

Specimen Requirements

1 lavender-top (EDTA) tube (1 mL of EDTA plasma). Specimen should be placed on wet ice immediately after draw and kept refrigerated until centrifugation. Centrifuge within 15 minutes of draw, and send specimen frozen in plastic vial. If no centrifuge is available, immediately place plasma in wet ice slush, and send plasma within 1 hour of draw. Avoid hemolysis.

Males: 16-60 µmol/L
Females:  11-51 µmol/L
