This test is useful for evaluating, diagnosing, and following up bleeding disorders, disseminated intravascular coagulation, drug induced thrombocytopenia, leukemia, purpura/petechiae, thrombocytosis, and for chemotherapeutic management of malignant disease.

Specimen Requirements
1 lavender-top (EDTA) tube (3 mL of EDTA whole blood).
Stability:
Room Temperature: 24 hours
Refrigerated: 48 hours; Allow refrigerated samples to come to room temperature and mix well before analysis.

150-450 K/µL
Critical values (automatic call-back): <50 K/µL or >1,000 K/µL
