Specimen Requirements

1 plain, red-top tube (1 mL of serum). Centrifuge blood as soon as possible and send specimen refrigerated, or send unspun blood to laboratory within 4 hours of draw. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
Note:  1. The following specimens will not be tested:
A. Grossly hemolyzed specimen
B. Heat-treated specimen
C. Lipemic specimen
D. Specimen with obvious microbial contamination
2. Include patient’s age on request form.
