1. Depress tongue and rub an aerobic bacterial transport swab over each tonsillar area and posterior pharynx.2. Touch any exudate.
3. Avoid tongue and uvula.
4. Do not swab throat in cases of acute epiglottitis.
5. Return aerobic swab to plastic sleeve.
6. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature only.
Note: Specimen source is required on request form for processing.

No beta-hemolytic streptococcus isolatedAll beta-hemolytic streptococcus isolated will be identified as group A, group C, not group A or C.
