Specimen Requirements

1 plasma gel tube (1 mL of lithium heparin plasma) following an overnight (12-14 hour) fast. Patient must not consume any alcohol for 24 hours before the specimen is drawn. Centrifuge blood as soon as possible, or send unspun blood to laboratory within 4 hours of draw.
Note:  Coffee and oral contraceptives may affect results.
