Methodology

Rh-Immune Globulin Evaluation
This is a qualitative screening test for fetal-maternal hemorrhage in Rh-negative patients.

Specimen Requirements

Draw a full, pink-top (K2 EDTA) tube. Forward promptly at ambient temperature.

Note:  1. Specify number of units required on request form.
2. Label specimen with patient’s name (first and last), medical record number or date of birth, and date and time of draw.
3. Initials of person drawing blood must be on tube.

Reference Values

Positive results are quantified, Rh-immune globulin dosage is determined. The nursing unit is notified of an abnormal work-up.
