Specimen Requirements
1 plain, gold-top tube (3ml of serum). Centrifuge blood as soon as possible and send specimen refrigerated, or send unspun blood to laboratory within 4 hours of draw.
Reference Values
Results are interpreted according to the Endocrine Society Guidelines:
Sufficiency: greater than or equal to 30 ng/ml
Insufficiency: 21-29 ng/ml
Deficiency: less than or equal to 20 ng/ml
