Test Code SPCNT1 Initial Post-Vasectomy Sperm Check

Important Note

This test should only be ordered as the first Sperm Check following Vasectomy.  If this is a secondary follow up, order SPCNT (which includes count and motility).

Methodology

Microscopy
This assay is used to verify that sperm have been successfully excluded from the ejaculate after vasectomy.
Test includes only qualitative result of sperm PRESENT or NOT PRESENT.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive in laboratory within 2 hours of collection.

 

Call St. Clair Hospital Laboratory at 412-942-3832 for collection instructions and to schedule an appointment prior to collection.

 

Collect total ejaculate in a screw-capped, sterile container. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
